Summary & Explanation

{"type":"root","children":[{"type":"paragraph","children":[{"type":"text","value":"Steroidogenic Factor 1 (SF-1) protein is a transcription factor involved in sex determination by controlling activity of genes related to the reproductive glands or gonads and adrenal glands. This protein is encoded by the NR5A1 gene. SF-1 expression is localized to adult steroidogenic tissues correlating with known expression profiles of steroid hydroxylases. Using in situ hybridization with SF-1 cRNA-specific probes, gene transcripts are detected in adrenocortical cells, Leydig cells, and ovarian theca and granulosa cells. According to literature, SF-1 expression has been implicated in adrenocortical carcinoma."}]}]}

Presentation

Five slides of SF-1/Steroidogenic Factor 1 positive tissues, each mounted on Hydrophilic Plus Slides, provided in a plastic mailer.

Principle of Procedure

Control slides are Hydrophilic Plus Slides with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue or cell sections mounted on them, serving as a tool to qualitatively verify the performance of immunohistochemical staining
