This protein is encoded by the SLC45A3 gene in humans and regulated by androgen. Prostein is expressed in prostate-specific normal tissues and at a significantly lower level in prostate tumor cell lines, but not typically found in other normal or malignant tissue. Prostein/P501S is localized within the cells in the perinuclear cytoplasm, specifically in the Golgi apparatus. According to literature, the large majority of metastatic prostatic adenocarcinomas are prostein/P501S positive."}]}]}
