PLA2R1 acts as a receptor for secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) enzymes, involved in regulating various biological responses triggered by sPLA2. PLA2R1 gain or loss of function experiments in vitro and in vivo shows that this receptor promotes several tumor suppressive responses including senescence, apoptosis and inhibit oncogenic transformation. PLA2R1 also promotes accumulation of reactive oxygen species which induce cell death and senescence. PLA2R1 is linked to idiopathic membranous nephropathy (iMN)."}]}]}
