Summary & Explanation

{"type":"root","children":[{"type":"paragraph","children":[{"type":"text","value":"ΔNp63 (also known as p40) is an isoform of p63, a transcription factor that belongs to the p53 family of proteins involved in the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. p63 is essential for the development and maintenance of epithelial cell growth and stratification in tissues such as the skin, oral cavity, mammary gland, prostate, and urogenital tract, where it regulates the expression of genes involved in epithelial during embryonic development and tissue homeostasis.\nAlternative usage of different promoters of TP63 gene results in two major isoforms, TAp63 and NH2-terminal truncated ΔNp63, which lacks the canonical transactivating domain (TA1). All p63 isoforms contain a central DNA-binding domain (DBD) and an oligomerization domain (OD). anti-p40 recognizes ΔNp63 isoform and it is highly specific for squamous/basal cells. p40 signal is typically strong and diffuse in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), distinguishing squamous cell-derived tumors from other types of carcinoma."}]}]}

Presentation

Five slides of p40 positive tissues, each mounted on Hydrophilic Plus Slides, provided in a plastic mailer.

Principle of Procedure

Control slides are Hydrophilic Plus Slides with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue or cell sections mounted on them, serving as a tool to qualitatively verify the performance of immunohistochemical staining
