Summary & Explanation

{"type":"root","children":[{"type":"paragraph","children":[{"type":"text","value":"Insulinoma-associated 1 (INSM1) gene encodes a transcription factor containing both a zinc finger DNA-binding domain and a putative prohormone domain. INSM1 is involved in neuroendocrine (NE) differentiation in many tissues. Originally isolated from a human insulinoma-glucagonoma subtraction library, INSM1 mRNA is abundantly expressed in fetal neuroendocrine developmental tissues and in normal adult NE tissues (adrenal medulla, pineal gland, pituitary gland, gastrointestinal enterochromaffin cells, pancreatic islet cells, thyroid C cells) and developing neurons. However there is also a high expression of INSM1 in NE tumors according to literature, such as small cell lung cancer (SCLC), pituitary tumors, medullary thyroid carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, olfactory neuroblastoma and pheochromocytoma."}]}]}

Presentation

Five slides of INSM1 positive tissues, each mounted on Hydrophilic Plus Slides, provided in a plastic mailer.

Principle of Procedure

Control slides are Hydrophilic Plus Slides with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue or cell sections mounted on them, serving as a tool to qualitatively verify the performance of immunohistochemical staining
