Summary & Explanation

{"type":"root","children":[{"type":"paragraph","children":[{"type":"text","value":"E2F4 is a transcription factor encoded by the E2F4 gene on chromosome 16. E2F4 is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors. The E2F family plays a crucial role in the control of cell cycle and action of tumor suppressor proteins and is also a target of the transforming proteins of small DNA tumor viruses. This protein binds to all three of the tumor suppressor proteins pRB, p107 and p130. In quiescent cells, E2F4 is primarily localized in the nucleus but translocates to cytoplasm when the retinoblastoma family members are phosphorylated in response to mitogen.E2F4 is constitutively expressed throughout the cell. Squamous cell carcinomas of the salivary gland, hepatocellular carcinoma, and other cancers show high expression of E2F4. According to literature, reduced expression of E2F4 has been reported in sporadic Burkitt lymphoma, and may play a role in Burkitt lymphoma tumorigenesis."}]}]}

Presentation

Five slides of E2F4 positive tissues, each mounted on Hydrophilic Plus Slides, provided in a plastic mailer.

Principle of Procedure

Control slides are Hydrophilic Plus Slides with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue or cell sections mounted on them, serving as a tool to qualitatively verify the performance of immunohistochemical staining
