Summary & Explanation

{"type":"root","children":[{"type":"paragraph","children":[{"type":"text","value":"Desmoglein-3 is a protein that is encoded by the DSG3 gene on Chromosome 18. It is a calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein component of desmosomes in vertebrate epithelial cells. Currently, four desmoglein subfamily members have been identified and all are members of the cadherin cell adhesion molecule superfamily. Desmoglein-3 plays a crucial role for maintaining tissue structure and integrity by holding cells together. Its expression is mainly in the basal layer of epidermis and oral mucosa. This protein has been identified as the autoantigen of the autoimmune skin blistering disease pemphigus vulgaris."}]}]}

Presentation

Five slides of Desmoglein-3 positive tissues, each mounted on Hydrophilic Plus Slides, provided in a plastic mailer.

Principle of Procedure

Control slides are Hydrophilic Plus Slides with formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue or cell sections mounted on them, serving as a tool to qualitatively verify the performance of immunohistochemical staining
