Albumins are commonly found in blood plasma and differ from other blood proteins in that they are not glycosylated. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Mutations in this gene on chromosome 4 result in various anomalous proteins. It has been reported in literature that systemic lupus erythematosus patients have an increased prevalence of IgG autoantibodies against human serum albumin that are associated with systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity."}]}]}
